Our Team

Martin C. Avey

Martin C. Avey, DMD, MS

I believe in making a positive impact on everyone I meet, by treating them with respect and an energetic smile. I believe every specialist needs to exemplify knowledge, skill, judgment, integrity, and compassion because, without any of these, our patients cannot have the very best care.

I believe in educating and investing in our community to share the knowledge and experience I have gained over my career. I believe in adopting the best technology available and leveraging digital tools to maximize clinical efficiency and patient comfort. This allows us to be innovative and modern in our approach to orthodontics.

I believe in creating stunning, custom-designed smiles that not only enhance facial esthetics, but improve function, stability, and overall oral health. And finally, I believe that I cannot do all this alone. I believe in a true team approach, and I strive to surround myself with the smartest and most caring people so we can all strive towards the same goal. Background and Education.

Background & Education

I am originally from Ontario, Canada, and moved to Florida with my family as a young child.

I was fortunate to have a great orthodontist when I was growing up and my time in orthodontic treatment was positively life-changing. My goal since then has always been to become an orthodontic specialist so that I could share that experience with others. I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida for my undergraduate studies and am an avid fan of college sports (Go ‘Noles!).

I achieved my bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, chemistry, and physics.  I was also proud to contribute to original genetic research funded by the American Cancer Society. I received my dental education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was elected to serve as class president and student body president.  I graduated at the top of my class and was recognized for my leadership and dedication to the profession with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.

I was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. I completed my orthodontic residency at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.  There, I was able to learn from distinguished faculty and gain experience with many cutting edge orthodontic techniques, including mini-implant TADs, accelerated tooth movement, and 3D imaging.  Upon graduation, I received my Certificate in Orthodontics, as well as my Master’s degree for my research thesis studying the effects of jaw position on breathing and sleep apnea.

Outside Office

Outside the office, you can find me spending time with my wife, Katie and our amazing kids, James and Juliette. We live in the Mason’s Bend community of Fort Mill and absolutely love our neighborhood! My family is my biggest passion and no success in the world would be worth it without their constant love and support.

We love to go out to eat (SPICE and NAPA are always top contenders!), travel to new places and spend time outside. We enjoy camping, hiking, snow sports, and kayaking down the Catawba River! I believe that family is one of the most important aspects of a fulfilled life and I am incredibly excited to build the GoClear Orthodontics family.

April Davis

April Davis, Master Smile Technician

I’m April, a Master Smile Technician and I love working at GoClear because I have an amazing team working with me every day. My favorite thing about orthodontics has to be getting to see patients start and finish treatment. Having a positive effect on someone’s confidence by helping to create a beautiful smile is very rewarding! I graduated from East Gaston High and from Central Piedmont Community College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. I am X-Ray, Coronal Polishing, and CPR Certified. I was born in Mt. Holly, NC and currently live in Concord, NC, but when I’m in Fort Mill I love to eat at Spice.

I have been married for 10 years to my husband, “Big Willie,” and have a 15-year old daughter, Olivia, as well as 3 stepsons. We are rounded out by Crix, our pit bull. When I’m not working you will find me on the lake, in the mountains of Georgia, or on the motorcycle with my husband.

Bre White

Bre White, Smile Technician

I’m a Smile Technician here at GoClear Orthodontics. I received my Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science with a double major in Health Promotion and a minor in Biology from University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I then completed the Dental Assisting Program at Charlotte Dental Assistant School and completed my X-Ray and CPR Certifications. I am a proud alumnus of Kappa Delta Sorority. I love working for GoClear because I like to help others and love seeing a patient’s smile transform – being able to touch a patient’s life in a positive way and enhancing their quality of life is priceless. No two days are the same here, and there is never an end to knowledge, technologies, or techniques we can continually improve upon in orthodontics.

I’m very family oriented and my #GoClearFam makes work a wonderful place to be and I am so lucky to have them.

I live in Lake Norman with my dog Charlie a 4-year-old white lab. In my free time I love completing escape rooms (I’ve done over 100!), hiking, yoga, and traveling. My favorite place to eat in Fort Mill is Empire pizza – their pretzels are as big as your head.

Valentino Bailot

Valentino Bailot, Smile Coordinator

I am Valentino, New Smiles Coordinator here at GoClear Orthodontics! “I am the father of 2 amazing and sweet girls, and husband to a brave and caring nurse. I have nearly 10 years of orthodontic experience, but my love for dentistry started long ago. Growing up in Italy, art was a focal part of my development and I decided to attend a 5 year program for dental technicians where I could express my artistic side by sketching, drawing, and carving tooth morphology. The dental lab was the first chapter of my professional career, until I moved to the USA where I graduated from CPCC and became an Orthodontic Dental Assistant.

Orthodontics is very powerful and the reason why I do this every day, is to help patient’s and families improve their quality of life. There is nothing more rewarding than assisting our patients in becoming more confident and joyful during their smile transformation.

Here, I get to share that same passion with Dr.Avey and his team, a group of fantastic/caring/also-super-cool people whose only mission is to help people GO and look their best! But if I’m not in the office, you’ll probably catch my family and I beachin’ by the ocean or riding my motorcycle!

G

G, Smile Technician

I am G, a Smile Technician here at GoClear Orthodontics. My passion for all things dentistry began as a child, immigrating from North Macedonia at the young age of 6. I arrived in the states needing much dental attention. My passion grew as my own dental and orthodontic needs were met, and caring for others’ dental health has now become a big and very important part of my life. I hold a combined 16 years of general dental and orthodontic experience and knowledge. The most enjoyable part of my career is treating young patients. I see myself in each child that sits with me in our clinic. I strive to be for them what my own dental professionals were for me as a child. I love watching my patients “grow” and being a part of a very positive and personal change for them, which will carry with them for their lifetime.

When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband (Jason) our three children (Jaxon, Brooks, and Juliana) and our Cane Corso (Miss Lucy). We spend most of our free family time outdoors at local parks hiking and biking and take frequent weekend trips to Charleston beaches during the summer.
